A new extension has appeared in the Hack’n Slay Path of Exile and with it a new race has started: The Twitch streamer Ben_ left all the competition behind with a mammoth performance: In 23 hours on Twitch he won the prize. He couldn’t afford to make mistakes.
This is the new expansion: Path of Exile released the new expansion “Trial of The Ancestors” on August 18th. It was patch 3.22. The expansion was the second new expansion in 2023 after Crucible.
The expansion brought:
Actually a classic “More of Everything” expansion, here you can see the trailer for Trials of the Ancestors:
Compete in hard-hitting Perma-Death mode
That was the competition: The developers also called for a “Boss Kill Event” for the new expansion. The winner would be the one who kills all 7 “Uber Pinnacle Bosses” in Ancestor Hardcore SSF mode. In this mode, deaths are permanent and you can neither play with others nor exchange items (via poe).
The aim of the competition is for the best players in the world to be careful but at the same time as effective as possible. If you take too much risk, you die and are eliminated. If you play too carefully, you are too slow and miss the prize. The competition rewards the most complete player who progresses through all levels and also gets their damage on target in the endgame.
Waving as a prize for the first:
Twitch streamer plays 23 hours straight
Who won this? The award went to Twitch streamer Ben_; he is widely regarded as the best Path of Exile player in the world.
On August 18, he played live on Twitch for 23 hours straight, peaking at 5,740 viewers.
He won the award with his character “Ben_ChiefGarf” a level 97 Elementalist. You can check out the gear and its skill distribution here, with Ben saying he swapped gear between bosses.
Ben_ was the third largest streamer of Path of Exile in the world in terms of performance over the last 3 days: however, the controversial Quin69 garnered 3 times more viewer hours.
“He can see the matrix”
This is how it is discussed: Ben_’s management is highly regarded in the community (via reddit): He dispatched the Uber bosses in less than 2 hours, they say.
“I’m sure he can see the Matrix from Path of Exile,” says one admirer.
Another suggests: Ben should be the next boss in the game.
But mortals are rejoicing too: there’s a Twitch clip going around of Ben showing weakness.
The games joke: You can see there shaking, how he suddenly panicked while trying to figure out where he still has to go and apparently blacked out for a moment.
Others say he did it on purpose to make us mortals feel better.
Many are waiting for the successor to Path of Exile:
Path of Exile 2 will get easier, but you’ll still get killed more often
