An obstacle was put in the process of purchasing Activision-Blizzard, which turned into Microsoft’s snake story, by the players. In America, it was recently revealed that they filed a lawsuit against Microsoft to prevent the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard.

Gamers oppose Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard

BloombergThe federal antitrust lawsuit filed in San Francisco comes less than two weeks after the Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit to block a merger between Activision-Blizzard, one of the world’s largest game publishers, and the Xbox console maker. Players are seeking a court order prohibiting companies from completing the transaction.

Players who thought the merger would give Microsoft enough impact at various levels of the gaming industry to “outpace competitors, limit production, reduce consumer choice, raise prices, and further stifle competition” have taken the matter to court.

The planned merger, according to the complaint, will give Microsoft great strength in the industry’s overlapping product markets, such as console, PC, cloud-based and mobile gaming. The tech giant is also claimed to gain an edge in markets that include high-end “AAA” games, subscription services and consoles.
