For many players, the most anticipated game of 2025 is the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. Fans of the action game can hardly wait for the release and so it happens that an inconspicuous sweater is suddenly sold at a high price.
What kind of object is this? Gamers have discovered a sweater on eBay that appears to be being sold by a Rockstar Games employee.
Now GTA fans are bidding over €1,200 for the sweater that you can’t buy anywhere else. However, the bidding war continues for another 7 days. The price could still rise (as of December 31, 2024 via eBay).

Boring sweater, but at least a reference to GTA 6
What makes the sweater so special? Nothing really, it’s a pretty boring item.
The sweater is black and has “Rockstar Games” lettering that matches the color of GTA 6. On eBay, the item of clothing is described as “employee merchandise.”
Basically, this is an item that Rockstar Games and, in that sense, GTA 6 is supposed to market – merchandise. The only difference is that you can’t buy the sweater or any other sweater, at least not yet – except for that one on eBay.
Why is there so much on offer for the sweater? Of course, we don’t know the exact motivation of the individual bidders, but it is certainly conceivable that they are hoping for some kind of collector’s value.
If a similar sweater is not available for purchase in the Rockstar Games merch shop in the future, the potential owner could have a unique collector’s item. In that case, the sweater would certainly be worth a lot and can be seen as an investment.
Should you also bid on the sweater? Rather not. Rockstar Games has its own merchandise shop where they offer similar sweaters – as well as caps, socks and T-shirts. So you’ll probably just have to wait until GTA6 merch goes on official sale (via rockstargames.com).
A similar black Rockstar sweater only costs around €75 in the official shop and is currently reduced to €52.49. Although this sweater is not in the GTA6 design, that suggests that you will also have to pay around €75 (undiscounted) for a similar sweater in the style of the upcoming game – and not €1,200.
