A gamer finds an AMD RX 6650 XT for an absurdly cheap 19 euros. He takes advantage of the opportunity and saves over 200 euros by purchasing it.
Bargains when purchasing hardware are not uncommon. Dealers repeatedly offer PC components and gaming PCs at particularly low prices for a short time. But there are also sellers whose business model is based on being able to offer their customers long-term bargains.
A Reddit user was now able to get an AMD graphics card at a particularly cheap price from such a bargain discounter, saving over 200 euros compared to the regular price.
Gamer saves over 200 euros when purchasing an AMD RX 6650 XT
What kind of graphics card is this? The user Dredv1 tells on Reddit about one of his craziest finds at a local dealer. He discovered an AMD RX 6650 XT from Gigabyte for the equivalent of 19 euros. Normally, the pixel accelerator officially costs over 200 euros in stores.
The RX 6650 XT with 8GB of video memory is a solid mid-range graphics card. It was released in 2022 as the successor to the popular RX 6600 XT. It is suitable for games that are displayed in Full HD resolution.
How did the absurdly low price come about? The gamer found the card at a regional bargain discount store, but with a little patience you can also find good deals online. Such retailers obtain their items from online shops such as Amazon, which resell their returns and excess stock cheaply.
The business model of bargain discounters also includes a daily change in sales prices. All newly arrived items become cheaper every day, so with a bit of luck you can save a lot of money on the regular price of a product.
Was the purchase worth it? Dredv1 bought the RX 6650 XT to give his gaming PC a small upgrade. According to him, he previously used an AMD RX 5700 XT, which he was now able to replace.
The additional performance of the upgrade is limited. In a direct comparison (via gpu.userbenchmark.com), the RX 6650 XT is only 12% faster than its predecessor. If the gamer had paid the full price, the exchange would not have made sense due to the small increase in performance.
The gamer knew full well that he was getting a good deal by purchasing the AMD graphics card. But not every user recognizes a good offer as such, even if the savings are shown to them directly: Uninformed user finds gaming PC for 740 euros, could save almost 200 euros – Asks others: “Would that be a good purchase?”
