Players upset with the 2023 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 game are bombarding the more popular 2011 original with reviews.
2011’s “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” is being bombarded with low scores on review sites as a result of some players’ dissatisfaction with the 2023 version. This work, stated as the third game of the rebooted Modern Warfare series, progresses from the story of the first game in 2019 and its sequel Modern Warfare 2 in 2022. Players have the chance to enter the story mode early for Modern Warfare 3, which will be officially released on Friday, November 10.
Wrong Review Comments Are Made for Modern Warfare 3
Although those who pre-ordered received special early access, reviews of the game’s story mode were not positive. The short duration of the game, the reuse of items used in Warzone, and the lack of innovation in the series are among the most criticized issues. However, since the 2023 version has not been released yet, players cannot bring their complaints to collective review sites such as Metacritic for now. In this case, some players choose to express their anger and disappointment by leaving bad reviews towards the original 2011 version.
As of now, 2011’s Modern Warfare 3 has a low user score of 3.6 on Metacritic, while its critic score is as high as 88. It’s unclear whether players are mixing old and new games or just waiting for the new game to be released. On the other hand, some Call of Duty fans are trying to respond to the review bombardment by giving high scores to the 2011 version.
Although both games share the same name and characters, there are major differences between the 2011 version and the 2023 version. Released in 2011, Modern Warfare 3 was offered as a complete package at a time when microtransactions had not yet dominated the gaming world, and its story mode was acclaimed by critics and fans. However, 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 has been subject to extensive criticism.
In terms of multiplayer, 2011 Modern Warfare 3 was known for its unique maps. On the other hand, the multiplayer maps of 2023 Modern Warfare 3 are remakes of the maps we previously saw in 2009 Modern Warfare 2. It also introduces a new open-world Zombies mode that has yet to be proven, while the older game featured a Survival mode as well as Spec Ops missions. In this case, it may not seem fair for criticism of the new game to target the old version, but reviewers are expected to focus on their real goals next weekend.
