Larian Studios, developer of Baldur’s Gate 3, won the Studio of the Year award at the Golden Joystick Awards 2023.
At the Golden Joystick Awards 2023 presented by Intel, Larian Studios, creators of Baldur’s Gate 3, was named Studio of the Year. Adding a new one to its great successes following the Divinity: Original Sin series, Larian Studios took the gaming world by storm by ending early access three years ago with the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired Baldur’s Gate 3. Millions of players rolling dice, wooing their favorite characters, and interacting with the wriggly little tadpoles known as the Mind Killer have made this massive trilogy an instant hit.
2023’s Game Company of the Year Larian Studios
For this prestigious award, Larian Studios competed with strong competitors such as CD Projekt Red (Cyberpunk 2077), Remedy Entertainment (Alan Wake 2), Nintendo EPD (Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Bros. Wonder). Mimimi Games, the indie team known for the Shadow Gambit series, and Digital Eclipse, the studio behind the documentary The Making of Karateka, were also among the nominees. Among such strong candidates, the factor that made them stand out was the fact that Larian Studios created a cultural phenomenon like Baldur’s Gate 3 this year.
