Gambling is only banned on Twitch because the providers are problematic

In an interview, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy spoke about gambling streams and the problems he sees with providers.

What is gambling on Twitch all about?

What does the Twitch boss say about gambling streams now? Dan Clancy is the CEO of Twitch. In an interview with the streamer filian, the 59-year-old spoke about gambling on Twitch, the ban and the operating sites.

During the interview, streamer Clancy addressed the gambling ban to clear up misconceptions about what’s banned on Twitch. As an example, she gave a stream where she played poker and some viewers thought it was illegal.

Clancy then explained the ban, citing casino sites like Stake specifically: “Our position was, ‘People can choose what they want to watch.’ But the thing that spread was these unregulated offshore gambling sites.”

Clancy then goes on to say that he sees a problem in the fact that these sites are not regulated: “No one on these sites sees what the odds are on the tables. Do they tamper with them? do they change them? Because they are not regulated. It seems they decide what they want to do.”

In general, Clancy summarizes again that streaming gambling was not a problem. However, the situation is different with the showing of unregulated third-party gambling sites:

But in general we have no problem with gambling streaming. But we have a problem with someone streaming on these unregulated third party websites.

Twitch ban on gambling sites subject to regulation

Could Gambling Streams Return? After Clancy talks about the problems he sees with unregulated websites, the streamer asks him if Twitch’s bans on unregulated websites could be lifted.

Clancy then explains his personal opinion on the matter, saying that what matters is whether these sites agree to be regulated and accept countries’ consumer protection laws.

“If these sites are regulated, if they are willing to conform to the regulations of most major countries in terms of what constitutes a gambling site, then I say, ‘Of course!’ But when they say, ‘No, we’re not going to do the things that most major countries consider important in terms of consumer protection,’ then we feel that we don’t want our community on Twitch to be exposed to these unregulated sites is steered. I wouldn’t have a good feeling about that aspect.”

Currently, gambling sites like Stake don’t give the impression that they want to change anything in their concept. Stake itself even launched a Twitch alternative, Kick, which some gambling streamers switched to.

MontanaBlack, meanwhile, spoke about what offer he would switch to Kick for:
