Every day, from morning to evening, both radio and television broadcast lots of casino and gambling commercials that affect both young people and adults.
If you have ever seen the program “Lyxfällan” on TV3, where on several occasions there have been cases where people have ended up in financial problems due to gambling addiction, you know what I am talking about.
These people can spend thousands of dollars a month on wasting money they don’t really have. This damages both the wallet and life in general, as you spend a large part of your time gambling.
Even if you have managed to get out of a gambling addiction, a commercial can easily remind you how fun it was, and the risk of a relapse is great.
All these gaming companies make huge money on their customers. But are there any benefits to gambling? Of course it is good that the employees get their salaries, but quite honestly we know that the owners just want to make money and get rich. Even those who play are looking to make money, but it is more likely that they lose more than they win.
Perhaps the largest the reason why someone chooses to play is the kick you get from the excitement seconds before you get to know if you have won something or not. But of course there are other, better alternatives to things in life that can contribute to excitement and make one happy.
I believe that game advertising in mainly television, but also radio, should be limited so that they can only be broadcast around midnight, between 11 pm in the evening and 2 am in the morning. If you broadcast the commercial only at these odd times, you can avoid that too many people see and hear them. It can ultimately lead to people getting a better economy and a more social and loving home.
