(Finance) – The sports fields and green spaces created in the areas adjacent to the gallery Casellina. The redevelopment project, developed and implemented by Motorways for Italy with a view to attention to the territory and sustainability, it envisaged the construction of gardens, flower beds, parks, for a total of 13 thousand square meters of green areas, and urban furniture works such as fences, coatings and flooring with a high quality standard.
The new space was born with the desire to harmonize the tissue urban with the motorway infrastructures, returning to the citizens areas rendered unusable by the construction of the A1 in the last century. In addition to the pedestrian paths, the area is in fact equipped with a cycle path of over 1,100 meters to facilitate the connection urban spaces, restoring continuity to the inhabited area impacted in the 1960s by the construction of the Autostrada del Sole.
In the project the strengthening of the sports area in via Codignola is also part of the construction of a regulation football field – inaugurated today with a football match between teams of young local talents -, two fields for 5-a-side football, a service building and a parking area.
Thanks to the program of interventionsworth approx 12 million euros, the upper part of the gallery will become a hanging garden of about 17 thousand square meters, with a central square and paved side paths. On both sides of the gallery Pedestrian and vehicular cycle paths are under construction, while on the side of via Respighi there will be a building on three levels, with a lift, which will constitute the main entrance to the roof garden and which will house a gym on the ground floor.
The plan is part of the works for the benefit of the territory envisaged by Autostrade per l’Italia for the extension of the third lane of the A1, in the Florence North – Florence South. The planned activities also include the modification of the viability access to the Scandicci junction on the A1. The project, which will be analyzed at the Conference of Services, provides for the separation of flows, between short and long distances, in order to mitigate the impact of traffic on the city of Scandicci.
The President of the Tuscany Region was present at the presentation of the new spaces of the Casellina gallery, which will be open to the public starting from autumn, Eugene Gianithe Mayor of the Metropolitan City of Florence, Dario Nardellathe Mayor of the Municipality of Scandicci, Sandro Fallani and the CEO of Autostrade per l’Italia, Roberto Tomasi.
