Galaxy Z Flip 4, Z Fold 4, Watch 5, Buds 2 Pro… During its Galaxy Unpacked online conference on August 10, Samsung presented its new smartphones and mobile accessories. Update on the announcements of the Korean giant.

On Wednesday, August 10 at 3 p.m., in the midst of summer and holidays, Samsung held Galaxy Unpacked, a major online conference to showcase new products in its Galaxy lineup. If the event was eagerly awaited by aficionados of the Korean brand to have all the technical details on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, Samsung’s new foldable smartphones, it also made it possible to discover new connected watches and the new wireless headphones from the manufacturer. And this, even if a lot of information has already been circulated in recent weeks with leaks, indiscretions and other predictions… But this time, everything is official, with the prices!

During the 2021 edition, the Korean manufacturer notably unveiled its latest Galaxy Z Fold3, its Z Flip3, its Galaxy Watch4 range and the Galaxy Buds 2 headphones. This year again, the conference will be dedicated to the folding smartphones Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 – but also a few other surprises. The advantage of the foldable format is to offer a device the size of a small tablet in order to improve viewing comfort while storing it easily in a pocket. Samsung is betting heavily on its new generation of folding smartphones as it hopes to sell twice as many folding phones as it did last year. Note that some new features have already been greatly unveiled in advance through leaks, as reported WinFuture. The information is therefore to be taken with a grain of salt for the moment. In the meantime, you can follow the conference for free and live below.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

According to information revealed by Samsung in preview, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 takes up the design of its predecessor, the Z Flip 3, with a clamshell format and a 6.7-inch folding AMOLED Full HD + 120 Hz screen, for a weight of 187 grams. However, the size of the secondary touch screen – intended to consult the time, the weather or the number of messages received – has been revised upwards, with a 1.9-inch HD+ screen – against 1.83 inches for the Z Flip 3. Performance-wise, it’s powered by Qualcomm’s latest chip, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, with 8GB of RAM. 3300 mAh front – and its fast charging is 15 W. On the side of the photo part, the front camera is located in a hole in the screen. It is equipped with a double sensor of 12 megapixels, identical to that of last year, but it has been renewed. It features dual-pixel autofocus and captures more light than its predecessor. The other two sensors, ultra wide-angle and selfie, would retain their definition of 12 and 10 megapixels. On the selfie side, Samsung is again betting on a 10-megapixel camera. The new smartphone is available in four colors – gray, purple, gold and sky blue – and should be marketed from 1,099 euros.

The Samsung Z Fold 4

Available in three colors – black, gold/beige and grey/blue – the Galaxy Z Fold 4 – which, like its predecessors, converts into a tablet – has a more discreet fold than the Z Fold 3 thanks to a new central hinge, while by having a slightly less stretched format. It is equipped with a very large 7.56-inch folding Full HD + 120 Hz AMOLED screen and a 6.2-inch HD + touch screen on its back. Its secondary screen and back have Gorilla Glass Victus + glass protection, more resistant than the protection of the Z Fold 3 and already present on the Galaxy S22.

In the field of pure performance, the Z Fold 4 does not fear the competition. It is indeed equipped with the very latest chip from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 – the most powerful SoC on the Android market –, a RAM of 12 GB or 16 GB depending on the model – against 12 Go for the Z Fold 3. A nice set that promises excellent performance in demanding applications and very good responsiveness on a daily basis. Its battery is limited to 4,400 mAh, compatible with 25W fast charging, and up to 11W with wireless charging. Reverse charging to charge compatible accessories is limited to 4.5W. The fingerprint reader is located on the right edge of the power button, while the photo sensor for selfies is again hidden under the main screen. Like last year, the smartphone comes with an S-Pen stylus but does not have a storage drawer for it.

On the camera side, the device has a 50 megapixel main lens – better definition than the 12 megapixels of the Z Fold 3 –, a 12 megapixel ultra wide sensor and a 12 megapixel telephoto lens. megapixels with 3x zoom – a configuration inspired by the Galaxy S22. It is accompanied by an optical stabilization as well as a dual-pixel autofocus. Beneath its folding screen is a 16-megapixel selfie sensor. Finally, the hole located on the external screen houses a 10-megapixel lens. Its price should be between 1,799 euros and 1,899 euros

Samsung Galaxy Tab Fold

Small surprise, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab Fold, which adds to its large family of touch slates, to consolidate its position as the main foldable display player. We can be surprised at the interest of a folding tablet, if not to further reduce its size for easier transport. In this way, the manufacturer can further increase the screen size, to get even closer to a laptop, while reducing the size. Its release date would be set during the first quarter of 2023.
