Gai’s crazy joy – back in the Allsvenskan

“Gais is going up.”

Ramsan has resonated with Gais supporters for a long time and has become a symbol of the club’s upswing. Now the message has also become a fact.

Gais finishes second in the super league and takes the step up to the Allsvenskan.

Away towards Jönköping’s Södra, the conditions were clear. Victory and promotion would be certain. A draw and it would effectively be clear. Lose and it would be decided in the final round.

And it started well for Gais. The visitors lifted a corner that Axel Norén, after a tangled situation, was able to push in. 1-0 and a dream start after just five minutes.

Gais led the game for large parts of the match and had the chance for more. In extra time, Gustav Lundgren then thundered in 2-0, which was the final result.

Afterwards, there was great joy in the long-standing Gothenburg club, which had a large away crowd in place in Jönköping.

For Gais, it will be the first time in the Allsvenskan since the 2012 season when the team finished last and was eliminated. After nine straight seasons in the super league, the club was then relegated and played in division 1 in the 2022 season. But since then there have been two straight promotions and next year Gais will play again in the Allsvenskan.

Västerås has previously secured first place and promotion. Which team secures a qualifying place, Utsikten or Öster, will be decided in the final round on Saturday next week.

Gais had a large entourage with him to Jönköping.
