Gabriel Landeskog has a brilliant playoff game behind him and he has been an important part in the Colorado Avalanche making it all the way to the conference finals. Not only is he a team captain and a given leader on the ice as well as in the locker room, he has also averaged one point per game so far, also against really difficult opposition.

Incredible drama

And of course Landeskog had a part in the decision of the first conference final against the Edmonton Oilers as well. Beforehand, most of the talk was about the duel between Connor McDavid and Nathan McKinnon, the world’s two best players right now – and no one was disappointed. Neither on the superstars nor on the match.

The Edmonton Oilers scooped goals as they advanced from the conference semifinals against the Calgary Flames, and on away ice in the first meeting against Colorado, they managed to score a full six goals. Unfortunately for McDavid and co it was still not enough. Avalanche scored a brutal eight (!) Goals in the match, and connected an early grip on the series.

Landeskog goal scorer

Already after a period, Avalanche led 3-2, and in the second period they extended the lead to 7-3. But the Oilers are not the team that gives up immediately, and they caught up all the way to a 7-6 deficit. Gabriel Landeskog had been noted for an assist in the match, but in the middle of the Oilers’ equalizer hunt, he stepped up and netted in the open box, and thus decided the slightly unlikely goal-scorer with his 8-6 goal.

Landeskog has now been noted for eleven points in ten games played in this year’s playoffs – a clearly approved result.

Connor McDavid, who was noted for record numbers in this year’s playoffs, scored one goal and a total of three points in the match, and has now been noted for 29 (!) Points in 13 games played. It is an average that few players through the ages have been able to compete with, especially in a playoff, where the very best teams and players in the world participate. The next match between the teams will be played during the night towards Friday.
