Charlotte Baris: A few weeks ago, you may have discovered the entrance signs to certain municipalities turned upside down near you. By inquiring, you have undoubtedly learned that this movement came from farmers. The objective: to challenge the government with a very effective slogan: “we are walking on our heads”. At the heart of the demands, there are in particular the standards which weigh on producers. The gesture is noticed, yet it does not cause much excitement. But now, as you know, the actions of farmers are no longer just symbolic and they are multiplying across France: foreign trucks emptied, highways blocked, prefectures sprayed with manure and even an attempt to besiege large cities. All regions are concerned and at each point of tension, the grievances are the same: farmers’ income, stacking of European rules or even imports of foreign production…

The State is called upon to react. So how is Gabriel Attal, newly appointed Prime Minister, confronting this crisis? And how is the movement perceived by the executive? These are the questions we are asking at La Loupe today…
