(Telestock) – At the G7 in Ortigia “we will address crucial issues not only for operators in the agricultural sector, but for the entire community, such as the right for all to access quality food, the ways of adapting to climate change, the possible paths to guarantee environmental, economic and social sustainability of agricultural and food models”. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, thein a message sent on the occasion of the presentation of the Waste Watcher 2024 Report on food waste.
“The annual meeting of Waste Watcher International represents a precious opportunity to reflect on what is being done at an international level to improve efficiency along the entire agri-food chain and reduce food losses and waste from the field to the citizens’ table”, said the minister, recalling that Italy is on the eve of an “event of strategic importance for the future of the agri-food sector”: the G7 to be held from 26 to 28 September in Syracuse, on the island of Ortigiapreceded and accompanied by a large Expo dedicated to Agriculture and Fishing.
“In this context, the Cross Country Report, produced by the International Observatory on Food and Sustainability and which this year focuses on the G7 countries – said Lollobrigida – is an extremely useful tool for knowledge and in-depth analysis. The Report offers an effective overview of the strengths of individual nations, as well as of the aspects in which further progress can be made in the fight against waste”.
