G7 company suspends Tesla taxis after fatal accident in Paris

On Saturday December 11, a taxi driver lost control of his vehicle, a Tesla Model 3, causing an accident that left one dead and 20 injured, three of them in serious condition.
The driver having mentioned a technical problem with the car, the company G7 decided to put all of its Model 3 to a standstill.

“As a precautionary measure and in accordance with our procedures, G7 has decided to suspend the 37 drivers affiliated to G7 equipped with the model similar to the vehicle involved, pending the evolution of the investigation”, the company said in a statement.

No suspension for Model S

This precautionary measure would concern 37 drivers and their vehicle. On the other hand, the Tesla Model S (around 50 cars in the Parisian fleet) are not affected by this decision and can continue to run.
To justify this decision, G7 states have no indication as to move more towards human or technical failure. Pending the conclusions of experts, an investigation “Counts of manslaughter and unintentional injuries by the driver of a land motor vehicle” was opened on Saturday, G7 is playing it safe.

For his part, Tesla’s reaction is quite firm. The manufacturer, who has access to many technical data of the vehicle remotely, indicates that “there was no technical failure”.
If Tesla has chosen not to comment on the decision of G7, the Californian has made himself available “to the authorities” and says he is ready to transmit the data he has on this vehicle.
