Future of 3 MCU movies and series uncertain

Actor Jonathan Majors has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years, leading him into Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He was cast as the villain Kang in Loki, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and several other projects.

However, Majors was arrested in March on allegations of domestic violence. Well there is further developments that its future Doubt involvement in MCU or other large projects.

Several of Jonathan Majors’ alleged abuse victims are said to be cooperating with the Manhattan Attorney’s Office, industry magazine Variety has learned from inside sources. Majors was arrested in New York on March 25 after a 30-year-old woman made a domestic violence call to 911. The woman was taken to hospital with minor head and neck injuries. The Manhattan Attorney’s Office then charged the actor with assault and aggravated harassment. Major’s attorney, Priya Chaudhry, has pleaded her client’s innocence. On March 30, his public relations adviser Andrew Bourke also released unverified text messages from the alleged victim, which quoted the woman as saying, among other things:

I have [der Polizei] Said it was my fault for picking up your phone.

The news was intended to relieve majors, but was interpreted to the contrary in many places. Variety quotes an unnamed person close to one of the actor’s upcoming projects: “They read like textbook text messages from an abuse victim.”

Jonathan Majors is expected in court for a first hearing on May 8.

What does this mean for Jonathan Majors upcoming MCU projects?

So far, there has been no comment from Disney or Marvel Studios regarding the allegations against majors. The actor has been part of the MCU since his first appearance in Loki and was most recently seen as Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. His character is considered an integral part of the so-called Multiverse saga, which is expected to culminate in Avengers 6: Secret Wars in 2026. It’s still unclear how Disney will respond to the charges. However, it is unlikely that the studio will stick with the actor. In the past few days, several companies have already distanced themselves from majors. His participation in the planned film The Man in My Basement was canceled and a joint advertising campaign by a baseball team was cancelled. In addition, his management, Entertainment 360, and PR firm The Lede Company have ended working with him, Deadline reported.

In addition to Marvel, there are other major projects whose future is uncertain. These include the upcoming Dennis Rodman film 48 Hours in Vegas, which was only announced last March, and Spike Lee’s Da Understudy.

Whether Jonathan Major’s next film, the Sundance acclaimed drama magazine Dreams, will be released as part of the upcoming Oscar season is in doubt.

Majors first came to attention in the 2019 drama The Last Black Man in San Francisco and the HBO series Lovecraft Country. He went on to appear in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, the Netflix western The Harder They Fall and most recently Creed III: Rocky’s Legacy.
