Furuviksparken gets permission to import red pandas

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

As SVT Gävleborg was able to tell last summer, the import of the two red pandas from England came to a halt due to Brexit.

– The red pandas will move to us, but when that will be is still unclear. We are awaiting approval of a permit from the sending park, says Cecilia Björling, Information and Press Officer Furuvik to Siren.

The red panda is an endangered species that is part of a conservation program. The purpose of the move to Sweden is to ensure that there are stable and healthy populations of the endangered species in zoos around the world, so that there is a back-up if an animal species dies out in the wild.
