Three significant donations that are to be announced in the new year means less than $15,000 remains to reach the goal.
“The amount of community support we have received for this project is truly incredible,” said Mayor David Bailey. “We couldn’t be prouder and more grateful for the support of our local businesses and residents. The generosity shown demonstrates why the County of Brant is such a wonderful place to call home.”
The fundraising campaign got underway in March 2024 to diminish the financial impact on the municipality.
The $1.6-million community center will have 2,055-square-feet of indoor space and will offer indoor and outdoor social activities, cultural and arts events, and recreation. The facility will also be home to the Paris Lawn Bowling Club and the Paris Seniors Club 99.

Located at 169 Grand River Street North in Paris with a view overlooking the Grand River, construction of the County’s first net-zero building will be completed in 2025.
Information on the centre’s website indicates the facility will produce as much clean energy as it consumes, and according to Natural Resources Canada is expected to be 80 per cent more energy efficient than a new building constructed to today’s building code minimum.
“We cannot wait to welcome the community to the Wilkin Family Community Center,” Bailey said. “The space will be a hub for gatherings, recreation, and cultural events for generations. We encourage everyone to join us in bringing this incredible facility to life and contributing to something meaningful.”
