A lot will change again in League of Legends in 2024. There are item changes again, and the map is also changing again after a long time. The director of LoL, Pu Liu, is now talking about the future on Twitter and promising big things for 2025.
The 13th season of League of Legends is coming to an end, and season 14 starts at the beginning of January with many changes, including a big change for the map and the current item system. LoL director Pu Liu took to Twitter to talk about the future of the game.
In his tweet he mentions 10 points that concern the future and how to treat the players. The most important of these would be these 3:
The other points can be described by focusing on the player and their opinion. You want to offer players more, surprise them more, no matter what type of player you are or how well you have already mastered the game.

A focus on players and fun
If you read through these points, you will notice a focus on the game itself. Pu Liu is not talking about e-sports and the scene behind it, which even broke a record this year with the Worlds 2023. One possibility would be more in-game events or new modes like Soul Fighter and Arena.
If you look at the newest champions, you can see with Briar, Naafiri and Milio that the purely mechanical complexity of the champions has also changed compared to KSante, Bel’Veth and Renata. Most recently Hwei came with 10 skills, the remaining new champions in 2023 were unusually tame. They are not obtuse in their role and mechanics in the game itself and are still complex, mechanically but easy to learn.
Arena mode was a pleasant surprise this year, and after many fan requests, it returned again this month. More such new game modes would make many casual players of the game happy, apart from the competitive spirit.
That’s all, but just speculation, because Pu Liu’s 10 points are formulated quite vaguely. He doesn’t say exactly what he means by the changes and the focus on fun. It also remains unclear why League 2025 should change significantly.
