    The Inspectorate for Care and Care (Ivo) has made a decision to temporarily ban activities in two departments at Sis youth center Långanäs in Eksjö municipality.

    The decision was made after information about serious misconduct, Ivo writes in a press release.

    “There are very serious irregularities in the business that have come to light. Among other things, there is information that staff subjected the placed children to serious physical violence,” says Peder Carlsson, head of department at Ivo, in the press release.

    Ivo assesses that the measures that Sis has taken or intends to take are not sufficient.

    The decision means that the business must be closed by Friday at the latest and that the children at Långanäs must be relocated.

    A police employee is charged with buying sex on eight occasions at the Thai massage parlor in Kristianstad, which turned out to be a hidden brothel, reports P4 Kristianstad.

    Previously, the woman who ran the business has been sentenced to prison for two years and eight months for aggravated pimping.

    During the trial, the women who worked at the massage parlor told how they were asked to masturbate for customers and have intercourse with them.

    The convicted woman also allegedly threatened and scolded the women in order to induce them to perform sexual services.

  • Major fire in Russian research institute

    A research institute in Fryazino near the Russian capital Moscow is in flames, state-run Russian Ria reports.

    According to the news agency, an extensive operation is underway to rescue people from the upper floors of the building.

    In video footage from the scene, the facility can be seen surrounded by heavy, black smoke. Open flames are visible in several windows.

    According to Ria, the research center Platan deals with electronics and radio components. It is unclear how the fire started.

  • Great effort – man missing during mountain hike

    The police are looking for a man who disappeared during a mountain hike in the area around Stora sjöfallets national park.

    The man was reported missing during the morning on Saturday.

    – At first we had no geographical point to start from. That’s why they searched for the man’s car with a helicopter on Saturday, says Maria Linné, the police’s press officer.

    At 12:30 on Sunday, the vehicle was found.

    – Now we have launched a larger effort and are looking for the man. The police plane is on its way and we have enlisted the help of mountain rescuers, says Maria Linné.

  • 77 rescued from migrant boat in Greece

    77 people have been rescued in a major effort in the Aegean Sea.

    No one has been reported injured or missing following the rescue operation carried out early Monday morning between the islands of Amorgos and Astypalaia, the Greek Coast Guard announced.

    Three Coast Guard vessels, four merchant vessels and two smaller private boats joined the effort after passengers called for help.

    The migrants have been taken to the island of Naxos where they are given temporary protection.

    The place where they were rescued is on a waterway that is usually used by smugglers to drive migrants from Turkey to Italy.

  • Boy released from youth home – man arrested

    At around 1 p.m., the police received an alarm that a boy in his early teens had escaped from a youth home east of Uppsala.

    – There were two men in a car who carried out the clearance, says police spokesperson Pelle Vamstad.

    The police then launched a hunt for the boy and the perpetrators.

    – At 1:45 p.m. the Stockholm police stop the car near Rinkeby, says Pelle Vamstad.

    The released boy will be returned to youth care.

    No staff at the youth center were physically injured during the evacuation.

    – We will now hold interviews with the staff at the youth center to map out how the exemption went about, says Vamstad.

    A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of promoting escape and threatening an official.

  • Car crashed into benches – one person to hospital

    For an unknown reason, a car has driven into several benches on a street in Simrishamn in Skåne.

    A man has been taken to hospital by ambulance. The extent of the damage is unclear.

    – It is the driver who has been taken to hospital. At the moment, we suspect that it is a case of illness, says police spokesperson Sara Andersson.

    The incident is being investigated as a traffic accident without suspicion of crime.

    Update:

    Initially, the police stated that it was a truck. Later, the task was changed to passenger car.

    Hello! The police for statistics on that, which you will find here! Then from time to time we also make summaries of e.g. shooting deaths. So far this year, 18 people have been shot dead, so the number is down from last year. But compared to our neighboring countries, it is still at a high level.
