The new government was officially announced by the Elysée Palace shortly before 8pm this Saturday, September 21. The government will be composed of 39 members. Here is the list and the latest information.
20:12 – “Let’s get to work”, Michel Barnier’s first reaction
A team! Now, let’s get to work! ????????????????

19:55 – A first council of ministers on Monday
The new ministers will gather for a first council of ministers this Monday, September 23 at 3 p.m.
18:47 – Bruno Retailleau, key man in the future government?
Severe towards Emmanuel Macron in recent months and refusing any rapprochement with Macronism, Bruno Retailleau is visibly preparing to take one of the key positions within the future government led by Michel Barnier. The president of the LR group in the Senate should inherit the Ministry of the Interior at Place Beauvau. The former close friend of François Fillon has notably defended in recent months a hard line against immigration and defended a tough policy in terms of internal security.
18:38 – Mélenchon: “Barnier has no future”
Present on Saturday at the demonstration organized in Marseille, Jean-Luc Mélenchon spoke and gave his opinion on the future government, which should be announced this Saturday evening. “Barnier has no future. His promised destiny is that he will be defeated in the National Assembly, probably on his budget project, and that he will fall thanks to a motion of censure if those who call themselves opposition continue to be. That is the truth”, he judged, tackling a future government seen as a “union of losers, with characters more or less there for decoration, a pretense, and others who will be the real bosses, like Mr Retailleau, president of the majority group in the Senate, who becomes the key man”.
18:32 – Xavier Iacovelli finally tipped for the Ministry of the Family, Laurence Garnier lead abandoned?
While Laurence Garnier, from the ranks of LR, was announced Friday evening at the Ministry of the Family, the reactions of the presidential party would have finally brought out another path. According to LCP, it is now Xavier Iacovelli who would be expected. The senator of Hauts de Seine, member of Renaissance and from the left wing of the party, could inherit the files of the Family and Childhood. Xavier Iacovelli had notably been charged at the beginning of the year by the Prime Minister of the time Gabriel Attal of a temporary mission on the support of single-parent families, recalls LCP. The announcement of the name of Laurence Garnier had been followed by many reactions among those close to Emmanuel Macron, in particular because of positions taken on abortion and for her support for La Manif pour tous in 2014.
