Full blast when Scanian music students took the stage

With nearly 250 music students from 17 Scanian municipalities on site, the event was “the biggest in 38 years”, someone said they had calculated. True or not, the young giant ensemble is said to have been heard far and wide.

– It felt a bit nervous, we have never played in front of so many people before, said trombonist Elin Persson, who is in seventh grade in Åstorp on weekdays.

Harriet Jönsson is a municipal brass teacher in the municipality of Åstorp and also the initiator of the Blues League, a Scanian music project across the municipal borders to promote brass music.

– Interest in wind instruments has declined for several years. We want to remedy that and at the same time let our music students get out and meet other children who play, says Harriet Jönsson.
