As part of the finance bill (PLF), the National Assembly increased the number of motorists who will be able to receive a fuel check of 100 euros in 2024. What percentage of French people who use their vehicle to get to their work will be affected? All our answers.
Established at the start of 2023 to financially help workers with modest incomes using their vehicle to get to work, the 100 euro fuel check is being renewed in 2024 and has been extended to an additional 1.6 million people. This November 7, 2023, the deputies, in fact, adopted by means of a 49.3 the finance bill (PLF) 2024 in which appears an amendment tabled by the Liot group (Libertés, Indépendants, Outre-mer and Territories) and Horizons deputies. He predicts that it is no longer 50%, but 60% of French people who will potentially be able to claim the 100 euro check, a measure supported by the government, but not by the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, who wants to put a end to the “check policy”. In total, in 2024, nearly 6 million people who travel to their workplace with their vehicle should be able to claim this financial boost. What are the conditions to be met? and how to apply?
Who is entitled to the new 100 euro fuel check?
The 100 euro fuel check will be granted in 2024 to the lowest 60% of French people whose reference tax income (RFR) does not exceed an amount between 17,000 euros and 18,000 euros. Income from 2022 will be taken into account, said the Ministry of the Economy. Members of the same couple who use a different vehicle to get to work will each be able to request a fuel check.
When will the 100 euro fuel check be paid?
The precise date of payment of the new fuel check is not yet known, but it should be paid at the start of the year.
How to claim the fuel check?
To benefit from the new fuel allowancepeople will have to fill out an online form on the tax website, which is not yet available. In principle, you will be asked for your personal information (surname, first name, email address, date and place of birth, tax number) as well as the registration number of the vehicle you are using. If you meet the eligibility conditions, the aid will be paid to you.
What types of vehicle do you need to have to benefit from the fuel bonus?
If the government keeps the same criteria for the 2023 fuel check, the new fuel premium will concern insured vehicles with two or three wheels and thermal or electric cars. On the other hand, certain categories of vehicle should be excluded: heavy motorized quadricycles, agricultural vehicles (for example, tractor or quad) or even heavy goods vehicles. Same thing for company or service vehicles since in this case, fuel costs are generally covered by the employer.
