The latest Scream sequel will start in German cinemas next week. Just last year, the legendary horror series revived with a strong entry, which unites the original cast with a new generation of actors. Now follows Scream VI and moves the story to New York.
With the change of scene, the ridge of violence is screwed upwards. After the last Scream films were released in Germany from the age of 16, part 6 received the highest age rating from the FSK: You can only see Scream VI in cinemas from the age of 18. That hasn’t happened in the series for 25 years.
Horror guarantee with FSK 18: Scream VI receives the highest age rating in Germany
So far, the FSK 18 is only on the cover of two scream films, namely the first and second part. In 1996 and 1997, the original Ghostface adventures hit theaters. After that, the intervals between the sequels increased. Scream 3 was released in 2000, Scream 4 followed in 2011 and Scream 5 returned in 2022 – all equipped with an FSK 16. Scream VI brings the series back to FSK 18 level.

Hayden Panettiere and Courteney Cox bring nostalgia this time, while Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega lead the new generation. The casting is particularly cool by Samara Weaving, who earned her place in the Scream universe with horror movies like Ready or Not and The Babysitter.
Long-awaited Scream sequel: When will part 6 of the horror series start in cinemas?
