FS Italiane Group elaborates guidelines for building stations of the

The Stations Management of Italian railway networklead company of the Polo Infrastructure of Italian FS groupAnd ICMQ(Certification Institute and Quality Mark), certifying body of the Envision protocol in Italy in the construction sector, have drafted together a detailed handbook addressed to all stakeholders.

The document – reads FS News, the information portal of FS Italiane – is the result of a working group that discussed the issue of stations, with the aim of guaranteeing, right from the early stages of feasibility technical and economic, high quality standards and high performance in terms of environmental, social and economic sustainability.

The adoption of the protocol allows to satisfy and guarantee, through a rating certified by an independent body, the achievement of these same objectives in the design phase and in the construction phase. The Envision protocol is a functional tool for directing projects in compliance with high quality standards and in a sustainable key because it makes it possible to meet the needs of an ever-increasing number of people who transit through stations and experience their urban “surroundings”.

The guidelines contained in the analysis document drawn up together with ICMQ are presented as a vclear support for the manual reference ofInstitute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI), considered the main tool in the certification and application process of the Envision protocol.

Users of the guideline will be the internal structures of RFI and all FS group company involved in the design activities, the external designers awarded the Framework Agreements and the operators involved in the construction of the works. The guidelines can be applied for the realization of: new stations railway; existing stations to be redeveloped; existing stations to be reactivated and re-functionalize. The perimeters of the works to be designed and built may concern railway infrastructure areas and include the construction or redevelopment of squares, roads, cycle paths, green areas and rest areas.
