(Tiper Stock Exchange) – The freight fleet of the FS Group it modernizes and focuses on the internationalization of traffic and intermodality. On the occasion of the Transport Logistic trade fair in Munich, FrLogistics only of the FS Group, in the presence ofCEO of FS Luigi Ferrarishas in fact signed a purchase contract for 40 new Siemens interoperable locomotives with the option of a further 25. The agreement was signed by TX Logistik, the Polo company dedicated to international transport, and Siemens.

The investmentwith a total value of 300 million euros, is only the latest in a series of investments and extraordinary items, launched by the new management who took office in May 2022, which, also thanks to a complicated market context, ended up with the burden on last year’s budget, but that the first positive effects in terms of growth in demand are starting to emerge.

The Logistics Center of FS – explains the note – plans to allocate 80% of total investments over the next few years to a decisive renewal of its fleet, with the purchase of 400 locomotives and 3,600 new wagons. Important investments which will make it possible to reduce the average age of the vehicles from the current 30 years to 7 years and which will see TxLogistik deliver a further 115 modern T3000 type double pocket wagons for intermodal transport by the end of the summer.

And the agreement signed in Monaco also fits into this context, representing a new step forward in the development of logistics and intermodal and international freight transport. The new locomotiveswhich will be built in the Siemens Mobility plant in Munich-Allach, will in fact have a greater capacity, given that they will be able to transport 30% more tonnes of goods with a greater focus on sustainability thanks to a consumption of 25% less power.

The locomotives will be delivered to the German company TX Logistik from September 2024 and will be destined for the transport of goods along the Rhine-Alpine Corridor. The strengthening of the TX fleet will therefore make it possible to expand the export capacity of Italian companies towards central and northern Europe thanks to a more performing, flexible fleet equipped with smart tools.
