FS Group, Ferraris at the Luiss seminar on economic intelligence

FS Italiane Ferraris appointments are important recognition for internal professionalism

(Finance) – Big data to acquire, process, protect to defend and expand. He also spoke about it this morning at the seminar on “Economic Intelligence in the digital age” organized by Luiss Luigi Ferraris, CEO of the Italian State Railways, referring to an expanding domestic and international rail market. “For the countries of central Europe we will move towards a single high-speed market – said Ferraris – with advanced infrastructures that will allow Berlin to be connected to Paris in 4-5 hours. “Hence the importance of getting to know those markets better and better and ever-changing scenarios. “Before entering the French market we carried out a careful analysis of the data, even if not all the information was available. On our Frecciarossa Milan – Paris we had foreseen – continued Ferraris – a demand that we thought we could satisfy by filling our trains at 60-70%, instead we are currently over 80%”.

A success beyond expectations which cannot constitute a goal, but which must be defended and consolidated.

“We have to measure the quality of the service with every useful tool, monitoring the reactions of our travelers on social media and analyzing the data that our customers allow us to use and that we have a duty to protect. We have a database of over 9 million customers (5 million have given their consent to their treatment ed)”.

But Ferraris’ speech was intended to recall how the FS Group is not only mobility of people, but also upgrading and construction of infrastructure, management of stations, integrated mobility and logistics, urban areas, as well as the possibility of becoming an enabling factor of connectivity with the extension of optical fiber along its 17,000 km of tracks. And he recalled how in all business areas the acquisition and processing of data is of fundamental strategic importance, just as digital processes are and this efficient and widespread connectivity is to transfer this data quickly and effectively to centers processing, but also to improve the quality of travel by train and by train. “We need digital infrastructures for goods, for real-time monitoring of their transport, as well as for monitoring the state of the infrastructures, and we need someone who can read and process this data. We need analysts and a research center that we have (FS Research Center ed) but then you need speed of reaction, the ability to capture trends, interpret them and also to intercept commercial traffic”.

Ferraris wanted to dedicate a final consideration to trade, logistics and the international scenario, speaking of Italy’s role as a logistics platform in the Mediterranean, of our southern ports, such as Gioia Tauro, of the evolution of the geo-political scenario with a increasingly important role of the countries of North Africa in the social but also economic dynamics of Europe.

The panel in which Ferraris participated, which occupied the second part of the seminar, was moderated by Bloomberg journalist Alessandra Migliaccio and also saw the participation of Paolo Scudieri, president of the Adler GroupOf Flavio Valeri, president of Lazard Italy and of Leonardo Bellodi corporate secretary of Enel.

To close the first part of the seminar, during which two reports were illustrated by Christian Harbulot, director of theÉcole de Guerre Économique in Parison the scenarios of contemporary economic warfare, and General Mario Mori, former director of Sisde, on intelligence services and economic warfare, was the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council, Alfredo Mantovano.
