FS Group and intermodality the first Parkin Station inaugurated in

(Finance) – Presented in Milan on Parkin ‘Stationa rest area and modal interchange, capable of hosting up to 425 cars, built by Grandi Stazioni Rail, a company of the FS Italiane Group, and co-financed by MIMS (Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility), with an investment total of about 15 million euros.

They spoke at the presentation Attilio FontanaPresident of the Lombardy Region, Giuseppe SalaMayor of Milan e Vera FioraniManaging Director of the Italian Railway Network.

The Parkin ‘Station constitutes a new infrastructure which, after Milanwill also be inaugurated in the railway stations of Rome Termini And Central Naples. These are elements of a strategic plan that transforms the stations along the main national railway route into intermodal hubs of a MaaS (Mobility as a Service) system, with spaces for parking cars and services for the exchange of green means of transport. such as trains, means of soft mobility, collective local public transport. Thus was born a multiservice transport corridor where stations play a strategic role within an integrated and modern mobility system: with fewer private cars, more shared mobility and intersections with the LPTthe stations will be at the center of continuous pedestrian paths, connected to the cycle networks and equipped with bicycle parking spaces, equipped with recharging points for electric vehicles, with spaces dedicated to the taking / release of shared vehicles.
In Milan, by the first half of 2022, the construction of a pedestrian connection between the “CM7” and the Milan Central Station is also planned at the railway platform serving tracks 11 and 12.

STRUCTURE – With a view to redeveloping the real estate assets no longer functional to railway activities, the former CM7 warehouse, a large volume that has long been unused, has been transformed into the Parkin ‘Station area, destined for a shared mobility service center for users of the station and serving the city of Milano Centrale. In 1931, the year the station was inaugurated, this space was intended for the movement of freight wagons. The whole area sadly went down in history for having been a gathering place for thousands of Jews who between 1943 and 1945 were deported to concentration camps, crammed into convoys departing from “track 21”. A part has already been transformed into a place of remembrance for some time, with the construction of the neighboring Shoah museum, inaugurated in 2013.
The intervention for the construction of the Parkin ‘Station intermodal hub wanted to give a glimpse of the original function of those spaces while preserving, as an element of industrial archeology, the transshipment bridge crane that was used for the horizontal and vertical movement of the engines of freight trains.

PARKIN ‘STATION, MILAN – The Parkin ‘Station will contribute to promoting and improving the multimodal hub functions that the Milano Centrale station is already performing. In fact, the multimodal service center, which is spread over an area of 24 thousand square meters, will be able to accommodate up to 425 vehicles, of which 10 reserved for people with reduced mobility and 6 dedicated to “pink” seats positioned at the entrances and planned exits in via Ferrante Aporti and via Sammartini. Essential is the provision of areas dedicated to shared mobility services, such as car sharing and spaces for rent a car companies, to complement the other differentiated forms of services connected to parking on the basis of hourly, daily or monthly usage formulas. , bookable in advance through the Parkin ‘Station App.
The parking service lightens mobility close to the station: 9 charging stations for 18 electric cars are already operational from the initial phase, representing in fact one of the largest recharging poles in the urban center of Milan. The equipment will be enriched in the future with additional stations to reach at least 50 electric cars. Some charging infrastructures will be for the exclusive use of car sharing operated with electric cars in the city of Milan.

HOW THE PARK WORKS – Parkin ‘Station is open from five in the morning to one in the night, with the possibility of hourly, daily and monthly passes.
It will be possible to book parking through the website www.parkinstation.it or the Parkin ‘Station app of the same name, planning your trips in advance. With a view to integrating train tickets and services, it will also be possible to book parking by purchasing train tickets.
