(Finance) – Stops at Bari at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce the roadshow “Logistics at the service of the country”organized and promoted by Mercitalia Logistics, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group and Uniontrasporti. THE in-depth topics – we read above FS News.it, information portal of the FS Group – are the relationship between logistics needs of companies and infrastructural performance of the South with the FS Group Industrial Plan 2023-2032, but also to provide an evolution of the logistics system that includes intermodality and the modal shift towards rail freight transport.

The event – we read again – is It was the occasion for the CEO of Mercitalia Logistics Sabrina De Filippis to present the pillars of the ambitious Industrial Plan of the Logistics Hub, which plays a crucial role for a real shared revolution and for the relaunch of freight traffic in Italy.

“Over 56 million allocated to the South for the upgrading of terminals and logistics plants. This second stage of our roadshow was an important opportunity to share with the stakeholders of the South the Logistics Hub’s plan for the relaunch of intermodality and the modal shift towards rail transport of goods – he declared Sabrina De Filippis, CEO of Mercitalia Logistics. – To become the European logistics player we have an Industrial Plan in place which provides for theinvestment of three billion in ten years for the renewal of the fleet, the strengthening of existing terminals and the creation of new multimodal hubs, the consolidation of intermodality with road and ships to generate value for the industry and for the territories, with great attention to the southern areas”.

With around 3 billion in investments, the Logistics Hub therefore aims to become a 360° playermanaging the entire mosaic of integrated and sustainable logistics in all its facets: from the connection with the first and last mile, to the management of terminals and the strengthening of intermodality with road and ships, to generate value for the industry and for the territories, with great attention to the southern areas.

After institutional greetings from Lucia Di Bisceglie, President of the Bari Chamber of Commerce and President of Terziario Donna of Confcommercio Bari, who reported some significant data from the logistics sector in Puglia (over 9 thousand companies, more than 55 thousand employees, almost three billion in turnover) and Ivo Blandina, President of Uniontrasporti, Edoardo Rixi, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, spoke from Rome. The Deputy Minister illustrated some of the Government’s main actions, including “the law on interports, to be approved by the end of the year, and the ferrobonus theme: an incentive program for intermodal rail freight transport necessary to decongest the road network and reduce the impact of road freight transport. An intervention plan with resources allocated by the government which, with possible co-financing by the regions, can have an even more significant impact. We are investing 200 billion in the next 10-12 years. In 2032 we will complete the European corridors by increasing logistics capacity in Italy by 70% and we should finance both ferrobonus and marebonus on a stable basis over time”.
