On Sunday, Sofie Axelsson was told that Joakim Medin was moved to the Marmara high safety prison in the city of Silivri outside Istanbul.
Medin has not had contact with his lawyer after the move from the prison with a lower security class where he previously sat locked up, says Frun.
– I don’t know if it’s good or bad news, I don’t want to speculate on that. I just want to get home Joakim, says Sofie Axelsson.
-I am shocked that a NATO-allied country deprived of an independent Swedish journalist. It is a completely absurd situation. This is not how it goes.
“The situation completely uncertain”
When did you have contact with him last?
– I got a letter from Joakim yesterday where he could be a little more personal, where he wrote that he misses me and appreciates all the support he has received.
What do you know about his situation now?
– He has apparently been treated well where he has been sitting before, he has been given food and clothes and supplies. But right now the situation is completely uncertain. I hope we hear from him as soon as possible.
The correspondent: high -profile cases
In prison Marmara is among others Istanbul’s mayor Ekrem Imamoglu and other political prisoners.
– It is known in Turkey as a prison for high -profile cases of imprisoned politicians and journalists, but for the legal process it does not matter where he is currently stored, says SVT’s Turkey correspondent Tomas Thorén.
SVT News has asked the question of where Joakim Medin is deprived of liberty to Swedish Foreign Ministry but has not yet received an answer.
