Frozen sardines make the zoo animals stand out in the heat

The heat wave in southern Europe is difficult not only for us humans. Even the animals think it is in the warmest team. At Madrid Zoo, animal keepers have started handing out frozen food to the animals, something that has proven popular.

A piece of frozen watermelon, sardines in ice cubes or a bucket of frozen meat do the trick in the more than 40-degree heat in Madrid, when the sun is at its highest. And is perhaps a welcome break in from the diet the zoo animals otherwise get to enjoy.
