Shortly before one o’clock on the night of Friday, a passenger car collided head-on with a truck that was driving on the wrong side of the road. The accident occurred at Flättnaleden at Björkö between Nyköping and Oxelösund at the height of Arnö Industrial Area.
The car has flipped off the road and landed upside down on a footpath and cycle path next to it. Emergency services from Nyköping and Oxelösund were alerted.
Woman seriously injured
The truck was driven by a 25-year-old man. The woman who drove the car is seriously injured and taken to hospital. The woman’s age is still unclear.
– She is very badly injured and we do not expect to be able to talk to her in the near future, says police spokesperson Erik Creutz
The police have opened a preliminary investigation into negligence in traffic, but no suspicion has yet been served.
Police have theories about what happened.
– But it is still speculation, says Erik Creutz.
“Just junk”
According to a source on site, “the car was just scrap”. The extent of the damage is unclear, but the accident is likely to be serious with serious injuries.
