Just before half past four in the afternoon, the police, emergency services and ambulance were called to county road 558 in Värnamo municipality due to a head-on collision.
– Two passenger cars collided. It is a serious accident, said the police officer on duty Lars-Göran Nilseryd to TV4 Nyheterna earlier in the afternoon.
Police later announced that one of the drivers, a man in his 20s, died from his injuries. Relatives have been notified.
A 55-year-old man was taken to hospital for a check-up after the crash.
The accident occurred on a curve. The police state that the road is very slippery.
Both cars have been impounded for a technical examination.
