Robertsson started the third final against Växjö away from home as the 13th forward.
In extra time, he got the chance and in the end it was just over eleven minutes of playing time.
“I was alert, that’s probably why I was allowed to play,” he says with a broad smile.
The decision came when the clock began to approach half past twelve. After 10:29 of the fifth period, he shot directly at Linus Lindström’s winning draw.
— I get two quite similar situations one after the other, the first I try to aim, the second I just try to aim and it goes in. It was really nice, he says.
“Had so many situations”
And Skellefteå’s ghost, Växjö goalkeeper Emil Larmi, had to give up.
— Really nice to get a hole in him. We’ve had so many opportunities and today we score three goals, says Robertsson, son of former Skelleftea coach Bert Robertsson.
When Pär Lindholm broke the deadlock, leading to 1–0, it was the first time in 188 minutes that the Västerbottoms could outwit Larmi.
“A Matter of Time”
Now Skellefteå is seriously involved in the SM final series. A 0-3 deficit in matches and it had been – pretty much – over. It has never happened in the history of the SM playoffs that a team turned such a deficit into victory.
— We have felt that we have been hanging on in all matches, today we hit the post and last match we missed an open goal. It has only been a matter of time before we win. It’s nice to get 1–2, 0–3 would have been tough, he says.
As the hero of the match, he may get more playing time already on Saturday.
“I’ll take what I get and we’ll see what happens,” says Robertsson, who earlier in the season was loaned to both Västerås in the Allsvenskan and Piteå in the first division.
Växjö’s coach Jörgen Jönsson was disappointed, but talked about small margins.
— It’s tight and small margins. Maybe we don’t start the game the way we want, but it’s tight. We have some free mode and such. We have to recharge and bet on winning the next match, he tells C More.
