From pensions to tax wedge, Calderone dictates the agenda

Cauldron immediately at work the first theme on the agenda

(Tiper Stock Exchange) – “The issue of the purchasing power of wages and salaries is of central importance. To favor wage dynamics it is certainly necessary to intervene on the reduction of the tax and social security wedge. Among the commitments of the legislature there is the reduction of 5% of the wedge and we will work on this”. The Minister of Labor said, Marina Elvira Calderone interviewed by La Stampa.

Another central theme remains that of pensions with respect to which the minister reiterates that the commitment is to give citizens a clear picture. “We will begin discussing it on January 19 with the first meeting with the social partners. It is it is necessary to make the whole discipline more organic in order to give certainties to workers who have the right to know clearly what the requirements are for retiring and under what conditions, if any, they can bring forward their retirement. In addition to the first pension pillar, it is necessary to intervene to make coordination with the second pillar easier, with the supplementary pension, on which it is also important to invest in terms of regulatory and procedural simplification”.

As for the minimum salary “We have two years to implement the European Directive on minimum salary. In Italy, quality collective bargaining has given adequate answers over time. This may be the way forward, reflecting on how to extend its application and evaluating the possibility of verifying that the collective agreements of the most representative associations become an objective reference for the various categories with respect to wages”.
