According to Karel Heijink, director of employers’ organization VNO-NCW Midden, entrepreneurs may now face a greater challenge than during last year’s lockdowns. For example, the government offers less support this time than during corona, because only the high energy costs are compensated. “It took the government a lot of effort to set up an allowance for the high energy costs. That is actually quite strange, because support measures were not a problem during corona,” says Heijink. “For example, the NOW scheme was set up and entered into force within three weeks, but now it has taken longer for the energy support to arrive.”
