Xavier Yvon: A few days ago in La Loupe, we painted the portrait of a Russian businessman, Evgueni Prigojine.

Leo Vidal : “The moment when the world learns the name of Prigojine is with the Wagner group, which is a group of mercenaries that we see appearing in Ukraine, first in 2014, but in a very discreet way, then which took scale in Russian operations abroad, in Syria, Libya and Africa. Then there is the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, where Prigojine completely changed scale.”

Xavier Yvon : We told you that with its new stature, Prigozhin should have an important role to play after Putin… At the end of this episode, we had also started to sketch the list of potential successors to the current head of the Kremlin.

Leo Vidal “It could be, for example, the leader of the presidential party Andrei Tretyak, who is therefore the chairman of the United Russia party. It could also be the speaker of the Russian parliament Vyacheslav Volodin. It could be former president Dmitry Medvedev.”

Xavier Yvon : When Dmitry Medvedev acceded to the highest office in 2008, Westerners pinned great hopes on this leader who was younger, more modern, more liberal than Vladimir Putin. But the former Russian president has now become one of the most radical among the radicals, he multiplies the declarations of hatred towards the West and even believes that we must go even further in the war in Ukraine.

In today’s episode, we will tell you about the drift of Dmitri Medvedev, a liberal who has become a “turbo patriot”, loyal to Vladimir Putin, perhaps to the point of succeeding him one day.
