If you have one of these devices, you will no longer be able to watch your favorite movies and series on Netflix.
Chilling out in front of a Netflix series or movie is a good way to relax on the weekend or after a long day at work. But many subscribers may no longer have access to the streaming platform in the coming months. Indeed, from July 31, 2024, i.e. from the beginning of August, Netflix will stop working on certain televisions. The objective of the streaming platform? “Preserve the best possible experience” for its users and limit cybersecurity risks. They were informed of this change by email. But which devices are affected by the disappearance of Netflix?
If you have recent televisions or the Apple TV 4K, you will be able to continue Bingewatching your current series since the most recent devices can correctly carry out the latest updates by adding the new features of the platform. On the other hand, 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV boxes, launched in 2010 and 2012, will no longer be able to display the latest films of the moment. Certain connected televisions could also be affected such as Samsung, LG and Sony models dating back more than ten years: the LCD screen models from Sony, Bravia and Legacy, the D, E, F ranges with Full HD screen from Samsung as well as the LM 6410, LM860V, LM 670S or LM960V ranges from the LG brand. And for good reason: these old televisions could be hacked more easily.
However, few subscribers should still be using these devices which have become obsolete today, and it is a safe bet that they have since equipped themselves with the latest models on the market. According to the newspaper Le Parisien, there are 1.7 million devices worldwide with 260 million subscribers. Furthermore, be aware that certain recent boxes can do the trick and save you from buying a Smart TV. Finally, if you happen to find yourself without access to Netflix one evening when you wanted to start a brand new series, know that you can also access the platform on your smartphone or tablet, via your personal account.
