From Ajar to Paris Fanta Drame traces the path of

After a moving first trip to Mauritania in Ajar, the native village of his paternal family. Upon her return, Fanta Dramé decides to tell the story of her father with love and tenderness.

For this first show of the season, a first novel. A first literary experience that recounts the first contact of a young Parisian with the country of her father’s roots, Mauritania, and this rural village of Ajar, in the south of the country.

An edifying destiny for her and for others. That of a father, who left his native land for France, after a stopover in Dakar where he will meet the future mother of his children. It was for them that he attempted the great adventure of emigration. And it is one of these children who tells her story today in a book full of love and modesty, tenderness and humor too.

A personal and family story which – without a doubt – resonates with the destiny of many families from the diasporas in general and Africans in particular.

“Ajar-Paris” by Fanta Drame is published by Plon editions.
