It has been a topic that has divided hockey Sweden for a long time. The classic hand claps have been found in several SHL arenas, and those who have had these have found many arguments as to why they should exist, while opposing fans who have not have mocked them.
Prohibits the pats
The crowd that likes the hand claps has said that they make a lot of noise, and a lot of noise can be impossible to negative to support their home team. But those who have been negative say that it is fake, and that it is not a real atmosphere and more plastic. Several teams have already opposed banning the pats – and now Frölunda has followed suit.
On Tuesday evening, the club had an annual meeting, and then one of the motions was to ban completely from the stands, and of a total of 68 eligible voters, the majority voted to remove.
“Cheers in the salon”, writes the Frölunda site Rakapuckar on Twitter.
The joy of the fans
HV71 has also been involved in banning the pats from its stands, and Frölunda’s decision has, to say the least, been well received among its own supporters.
“SÅJA!”, Writes a supporter profile on Twitter.
Frölunda’s supporters also praise the decision.
“Good, now maybe you get the urge for an away match against you”, writes a Twitter user.
Overall, the tone among Frölunda’s supporters after the decision has been overwhelmingly positive, and many now hope that more clubs will follow suit. Many also believe that there is an environmental aspect to the whole.
