Luleå had six straight SM golds.
But the starter Frölunda – who has been in just three seasons on the women’s side – already broke the first match of the Norrbottningen’s suite of 24 straight wins in the playoffs.
Two more matches later, the gold suite is also brutally broken.
The record audience in Scandinavium offered a huge cheer as the final signal went and the Frölund players began their celebration on the ice.
It had only been nine seconds of the second period when Andrea Dalen put the puck against – and straight into – goals from a bad angle. It gave Frölunda a 2-1 lead and take over in the third finals.
Dalen two -goal shooter
Luleå had the knife on the throat after the two initial losses at home.
Luleå coach Melinda Olsson announced a great revenge loss before the match and also had veteran Sara Grahn back in the goal after the bang she got in the first final match.
Just as in the first two matches, Luleå also took the lead. Halfway into the first period, the team took a sloppy pass in Frölunda’s zone, after which Sarah Bujold shot 1-0.
However, the replica from Frölunda came quickly.
Less than three minutes later, Michelle Karvinen rounded the goal cage and fit to Andrea Dalen, which acknowledged 1-1.
The Norwegian, who, like the chain buddies Michelle Karvinen and Hanna Olsson, since Frölunda started her investment in 2022, then became a two -goal shooter in front of the record -breaking home crowd.
It feels sick with the audience in the back, Dalen told SVT for the final period.
New audience record
The Gothenburg citizens streamed to Scandinavium when it became clear that Sunday’s match could mean SM gold and set with 8,488 a neat SDHL record. The previous record had Brynäs with 7,765 spectators in one of the final matches – also against Luleå – 2022.
In addition, when half the match had passed, Nathalie Lidman also increased to 3-1 for Frölunda, although Viivi Vainikka shortly thereafter reduced the lead again.
Luleå offered a strong final forcing and has also turned 0-2 in matches once before, in the final series against Linköping six years ago.
But there was no fourth final match this time.
Instead, Frölunda was strongest even in the third final match and kept the lead the match.
