Lasse Johansson has returned home to Frölunda.
But some of his money is still locked in Russia.
– It is not easy, he says.
Goalkeeper Lasse Johansson has represented foreign clubs since he left Frölunda after the 2015/16 season. There have been games in the AHL and KHL, where he stopped pucks for SKA St. last competition year. Petersburg.
Back in the SHL
A little over a month ago, however, it became clear that Lasse Johansson would return to Sweden and the SHL. Frölunda presented the goalkeeper as his latest new acquisition to compete with the Dane Frederik Dichow in the Gothenburg club.
He has taken his pick and pack and left Russia. The star goalkeeper, however, did not get it all – some of his money is locked in Russia, which has been hit by heavy sanctions after the country’s invasion of Ukraine.
– I’ve said it before, I do not comment much on it. But they are stuck, it’s pretty much locked there. That’s how it is. It is not entirely easy to get some money home right now, says Johansson to Göteborgs-Posten.
“Everything was locked”
The 34-year-old continues:
– Then I actually do not know the latest rules, but when we went home everything was locked anyway and I do not think anything has opened up so much since then, he says and narrator further that it, the money, does not worry him too much.
Lasse Johansson received some criticism for not breaking his KHL contract after the outbreak of the war, and waited until after the season. He says it was difficult to just leave his contract.
– We looked at the possibilities of going home. But with details in the contract that I can not go into, it did not happen. It looks different for everyone, says the goalkeeper.
