Frölunda breaks the silence about the star players – first words about the NHL-deserving trio: “We’ve talked”

Eight players have already left Frölunda after the season.
Now the club is breaking the silence about three more players with NHL credentials.
– There are three players we want, sports director Fredrik Sjöström admits to GP.

Frölunda had to leave the SM play-offs in the semi-finals after 2-4 in matches against the gold favorite Växjö Lakers. There was also the farewell to eight players in Frölundaspelare who have now had to leave the club in different ways.

Three star players are on expiring contracts in the form of Louis Eriksson, Petteri Lindbohm and Anthony Greco – a trio that came to the club with NHL credentials and high expectations. Now Frölunda breaks the silence about the trio and announces the future in the club.
– We have a dialogue with the three. We’ll see what it leads to and I can’t say that it will lead to anything or not. There are three players we want to have continued dialogue with. It will certainly be a matter of what the players want and what we want and the whole big puzzle. But all three have shown something that makes us remain interested, says the sports director Fredrik Sjöström to Göteborgs-Posten.

NHL meritorious

Eriksson came home to Frölunda again last season after 16 years in North America and over 1,000 games in the NHL. During the comeback season, there were 19 points in 34 games in the SHL.
– We have spoken now after the season and thought he had a good play-off. It might be good to have a week or two away from the hall and think before you sit down and talk again. It can be good to get some distance from it both from him and from our side, says Sjöström to the local newspaper.

Finnish defenseman Lindbohm came from 49 NHL games and delivered 14 points in 52 games for Frölunda in the SHL. While the American Greco is the least NHL capped with only two games in the world’s best hockey league but finished a fine third in the internal scoring league during this year’s season after 25 points in 47 games in the SHL.
– It took some time to acclimatise to the league and to us. From February onwards, he got into it and showed good things and there are things that are promising there, says sporting director Sjöström in the interview.
