Josef Fritzl, who was convicted of raping his daughter and keeping her confined, is not moved to a regular prison but remains in forensic psychiatric care. An Austrian court ruled, overturning a lower court decision in January.
In 2009, he was sentenced to a life sentence in a special prison that has a forensic psychiatric clinic.
A move to a regular prison could have opened the way for the release of Fritzl, who is now severely demented. According to his lawyer, the court also considered that he is no longer dangerous and could be placed in a nursing home. However, the application was rejected as the medical certificates are still being processed.
New hearings regarding how dangerous Fritzl can be considered today are scheduled for the end of April.
