Of these, those made up of elderly people will become almost 60% (5.6 million). According to estimates, in 2040, 10.3% of elderly people will continue to have disability problems. The elderly today represent 24.1% of the overall population and in 2050 there will be 4.6 million more: they will reach a weight of 34.5% of the total population. The elderly of tomorrow will be increasingly childless and increasingly alone.

The desires of the population are also changing and they are no longer looking for wealth, but looking for a slice of daily well-being. 62% look for moments to dedicate to themselves and a plebiscite 94% revalue the happiness that comes from the little things of every day such as free time, hobbies, personal passions. Over 80% are very careful about managing stress and personal relationships. And even professional satisfaction is no longer in first place: for almost nine out of ten employed people, putting work at the center of life is a mistake.
On the rights front, a situation seems to be opening up new season. 74% say they are in favor of euthanasia while seven out of ten Italians approve the adoption of children by singles and 54% by same-parent couples. There remains a segment that increasingly decides to cross national borders with the aim of a better life abroad. A figure that has increased by 36% in the last decade, almost 1.6 million more. What characterizes the most recent flows are above allor young people. In fact, in the last year, of 82 thousand expatriates, 44% (over 36 thousand) were between 18 and 34 years old.
