Friends on Tuesday urged residents across several Southwestern Ontario counties to leave their porch lights on overnight in support of the search for a 44-year-old mother who was last seen leaving work in Woodstock five days ago.

Jenny Da Silva, a funeral director, left work in Woodstock at about 3 p.m. on July 5, last Friday, and did not return home to Brantford as expected, police say. The married mother of two daughters had not been seen since then, police said on Monday.
On Tuesday, friends continued calling for the public’s help finding her.
“A kindergarten classmate of Jenny’s – Christine – and her daughter thought that if Jenny was out there somewhere lost or confused, the country could be pretty dark,” lifelong friend Steph Vandeven said of rural Southwestern Ontario.
“If everyone who lived out in the country could leave their porch lights on maybe we could help guide her home or to safety.”
Friends were asking rural residents in Oxford County, Brant County and Haldimand County to leave their porch lights on all night.

Brantford police last issued an update on Monday morning. They say Da Silva was last seen wearing business attire – a navy blue blazer, navy blue skirt, white shirt and wedge-style heeled shoes. She may be driving a black 2009 Audi A6.
She is described as a white woman with tan skin, standing about five-foot-one with a thin build, long curly brown hair and brown eyes. Police say they are “concerned for (her) well-being and are seeking assistance from anyone who may have information which may assist” in finding her.
Vandeven described her friend as “a small woman with the biggest heart” who was “full of love and joy (and) would help anyone.” Vandeven added: “And if she happens to read this, I love her, I miss her and want her home safe and sound.”
Vandeven said Da Silva grew up on tobacco farms in the Scotland and Delhi area.
Anyone with information is asked to call Brantford police at 519-756-7050 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be submitted online here
