Friend Maja Dahlqvist’s revelation – therefore Frida Karlsson is forced to stand over again: “I hope she learns…”

Frida Karlsson has a cold and is forced to miss competitions.
Now Maja Dahlqvist reveals the reason for the disease.
– I hope she can learn from it in the future, she says according to SVT.

Everything looked perfect for Frida Karlsson ahead of the WC, which starts in less than a month. She won the Tour de Ski as the first Swede since Charlotte Kalla, and showed brilliant form during all the sub-competitions around New Year. She had a clear plan on how she would set everything up with training and competition, but has now been forced to change.

Forced to stand over

Last week, it was announced that Karlsson had caught a cold, and that she was therefore forced to rest involuntarily. Karlsson had intended to have a harder training period starting at the beginning of last week, but she was forced to postpone that, as she cannot train with a cold in her body. On Sunday, there was news of a new arrangement for the WC.

In Viasat, the expert Teodor Peterson said that Karlsson will not compete in France next weekend, something that her coach Per Nilsson already flagged last week.

– She has been ill for about a week and just started up now and has been up and running for a few days. She has decided not to compete in France next week but is postponing it and aiming for the races in Toblach in two weekends, he says.

Maja’s revelation

But the fact that Frida Karlsson has a cold at all could have been avoided. Her close friend Maja Dahlqvist now reveals the reason behind the illness – and believes that Frida Karlsson has a lot to learn going forward.

– I think Frida got sick because she took on sponsorship assignments instead of resting, which she needed. I hope she can learn from it for the future. Now she felt it was too late to drop out of these assignments, says Dahlqvist, according to SVT.

It was directly after the Tour de Ski, where Frida Karlsson collapsed after the final stage, that Karlsson must have been on several planned sponsorship missions. The national team manager Anders Byström confirms in a text message to TT that Frida Karlsson is not competing in France next weekend, but that she is instead aiming to compete in Toblach, the first weekend in February.
