On Tuesday evening, Fridolina Rolfö received the Diamond Ball for the second year in a row.
And it was an emotional striker who accepted the award.
– I feel incredibly proud and happy, says Rolfö.
During Tuesday evening, the Guldbollen and Diamantbollen were awarded, a prize that goes to Sweden’s best soccer player on the men’s and women’s side each year. On the men’s side, Tottenham’s star got Dejan Kulusevski receive the award for the first time in his career, and on the women’s side, just like last year, Fridolina Rolfö who received the award.
“Incredibly proud”
Rolfö plays everyday in Spain and FC Barcelona, where she and her team took home the league victory at the same time as they went to the final in the Champions League.
“A player who has taken a big and important role in one of the world’s best club teams thanks to his sense of play, his technique and his speed. In the national team, she has continued to deliver at the very highest level,” reads the justification for the award.

And the striker himself was, not entirely unexpectedly, happy to receive the award for the second year in a row.
– Above all when you see how many talented soccer players there are out there in Sweden. So I feel incredibly proud and happy, says a Rolfö in Aftonbladet’s broadcast of the Football Year 2022.

Nice tributes
In addition to the successes with FC Barcelona, there was also a bronze with the national team in this summer’s European Championships.
– It has been a fantastic football year. Maybe my best so far. There are many highlights during the year to pick from and I have been involved in a lot in both the national team and club team. It has been a fun and educational year, says Rolfö.

During the broadcast, the 29-year-old received greetings from loved ones. Partly from her sister but also from two of her childhood friends as well Magdalena Eriksson who played with Fridolina Rolfö already when they were both 15 years old.
– I was very touched, wow, says a teary-eyed Rolfö after the greetings.
– You remember what wonderful people you have in your life. They have been very involved in my entire football career and have been a part of me getting this far. Those are nice words.
