Fridolina Rolfö is nominated for the prestigious English award – can now become the world’s best player

Swedish national team striker Fridolina Rolfö is one of five nominees for the BBC’s award as footballer of the year in 2023.

The Barcelona star Fridolina Rolfö settle the award with the Spanish club mate Aitana Bonmatithe English national team goalkeeper Mary Earpsthe Australian attacking ace Sam Kerr and the German veteran Alexandra Popp.

Rolfö’s success

Rolfö has had a brilliant year. Last spring, she won the league with Barcelona and scored the decisive goal in the Champions League final against Wolfsburg. During the summer, she was then one of Sweden’s key players when the national team took WC bronze.

An expert panel including players, managers and journalists has selected the five nominees. However, the final winner is chosen by the fans who have until November 3rd to vote. The final result will be presented on November 28.

Among previous award winners can be seen Beth Mead, Asisat Oshoala, Vivianne Miedema and Ada Hegerberg.
