Winning competitions is simply not as important anymore, as you profit from competing often, if you manage to finish relatively high up. This favors skaters who can compete in many distances – longer races and sprints, for example – and is also why Tiril Udnes Weng leads the overall World Cup right now.
Several Swedish skaters have criticized the new points system, including Maja Dahlqvist, who said that it should be a greater advantage to win competitions. But Frida Karlsson doesn’t really care whether she is at the top of the overall world cup or not.

Frida Karlsson, for example, will stand over the weekend’s competitions in Davos to instead focus on the Tour de Ski. Tiril Udnes Weng, on the other hand, will compete, and thus subtract further in the overall World Cup. And Frida Karlsson now reacts that it is precisely Tiril Udnes Weng who is at the top.
– She is not the best at anything, but good at everything. She is second best at everything, she says of her rival.
However, Frida Karlsson is not surprised that it is the Norwegian who is leading.
